Many women find great relief after breast reduction surgery. Exercise becomes easier. Clothes fit better. Back and bra-strap pain disappears. Our breast reduction patients are typically thrilled they finally went through with a surgery they’d been considering for years.
What is Breast Reduction?
Breast reduction seeks to reduce the size of the breasts. It is usually performed on patients with large and heavy breasts. Those frustrated with asymmetrical breasts also seek breast reduction surgery. The goals of this procedure include:
- Lifting and firming the breasts
- Reducing the size of the breasts
- Improving the breast’s shape and proportions
- Enhancing the nipple/areola, if needed
- Improving breast symmetry
- Reducing the weight of the breasts by removing skin, fat, and glandular tissues
We achieve these goals by removing tissue from the breasts. Your surgeon will carefully place incisions on and around the breasts. Through these incisions, skin, fat, and other breast tissues are removed. The breasts are reshaped and lifted, as are the nipples and areolas. Once your surgeon has completed the procedure, you are placed into a supportive bra. Patients spend a short time in recovery before heading home.
