The Procedure
When you come for your BOTOX® Cosmetic appointment at Ann Arbor Plastic Surgery, your provider will discuss your areas of concern with you and develop a treatment plan tailored to your unique needs. Before 
After Your BOTOX injections should take effect approximately 7-14 days after your injection, at which time you will notice less movement and your wrinkles softening and disappearing. What is recovery like after BOTOX® Cosmetic?
BOTOX® Cosmetic recovery is minimal – there is no downtime! We recommend no strenuous exercise for 24 hours after injection. The BOTOX® Cosmetic will begin to take effect 7-14 days after treatment.
When can I go back to work after injection treatments?
You can return to work the day of your injection treatments. There is a risk for bruising and swelling, but this can be covered up with makeup as needed. Patients can also ice the area to reduce any swelling.
What can I do to prevent or treat bruising after injections?
Prior to your injection treatment, you should avoid alcohol, NSAIDs, and aspirin. Following injection, icing the area, avoiding raising your heart rate, and using Arnica can reduce bruising. For significantly stubborn bruising, an IPL treatment can resolve the discoloration more quickly.
What is the difference between BOTOX® Cosmetic and Dysport®?
In many ways, BOTOX® Cosmetic and Dysport® are like Coke and Pepsi. They are both neurotoxins that act to temporarily freeze muscles of the face that contribute to the development of wrinkles. At the molecular level, BOTOX® Cosmetic and Dysport® are slightly different in their composition. Both BOTOX® Cosmetic and Dysportr are FDA approved for treating the glabellar area. Dysport® may take effect slightly quicker than BOTOX® Cosmetic and may diffuse more in the tissues, but often it is a patient’s personal preference for which they like the best.

Aftercare Instructions
This is a straightforward 15-minute office procedure. After your treatment you should not vigorously massage the treated area or lie down for 4 hours and not exercise for 24 hours. You may gently wash your face and apply make up directly following treatment. Results may take up to 2 weeks for full effect.
