After What Are Hyaluronic Acid Fillers?
Hyaluronic acid is a polysaccharide (sugar) that exists naturally in all humans and mammals. It is the main ingredient in Restylane® and JUVÉDERM® products. It supports the skin by replacing the hyaluronic acid that has been lost with the normal aging process. Hyaluronic acid draws moisture from its surroundings. Most water-based lotions contain hyaluronic acid because it is so effective in re-hydrating skin. One gram of hyaluronic acid can hold three liters of water. HA’s ability to attract water molecules results in softer, smoother skin and the filling of lines and wrinkles.

The injector then may use topical cream anesthetic to numb the skin. A blunt-tipped micro-cannula may be used reduce bruising and soreness. The treatment takes 30 minutes or less. Some results are immediate, and with minimal bruising or swelling in most cases. Many patients can return to work that day or the next.
After the Procedure
Before you leave, we advise you to avoid strenuous activity, alcohol, and excessive heat (sun, tanning salons and saunas) that day. Patients should also avoid massaging or touching the area. A return appointment can be scheduled in two weeks. We want to monitor our perfect results. Your Restylane® or JUVÉDERM® results will last from six to 18 months.
Recovery
Some patients will experience swelling and bruising. Arnica Montana gel is available in our clinic to speed up the healing process and treat any bruising. You can apply makeup at any time after the procedure.
