If you ask us, any time is the right time for eyelid surgery (blepharoplasty). Our patients love refreshing the appearance of their eye area any time of the year. It’s always the right time to look refreshed.

We love blepharoplasty all year long, but winter does offer a few unique benefits for patients considering eyelid surgery. Why should you consider an eyelid lift this winter?

Easier to Stay Out of the Sun

Sun and new incisions don’t mix. As you heal from eyelid surgery, your skin will be more sensitive to the sun than usual. If healing incisions get too much sun, they can permanently darken, creating scars that are much more visible than they need to be.

Our patients find it is much easier to stay out of the sun during the winter when there are fewer outdoor activities and events. Because limiting UV exposure is an important part of recovery from many facial procedures, winter is also an ideal time to schedule a facelift, rhinoplasty, laser treatment, or chemical peel.

Extra Downtime

Life is busy all year round, but most of our patients find they have a little more downtime in the winter. Many of our patients schedule their eyelid surgery over a holiday break so they have extra time off work for recovery.

Ready for a Spring Reveal

Full recovery from eyelid surgery takes several weeks. Although most patients are back to work and regular daily activities within 1-2 weeks, it can take longer to be ready for the camera or social events. If you get surgery in the winter, you’ll be ready for a springtime reveal.

After eyelid surgery, your refreshed appearance will be ready to rival the daffodils and the cherry blossoms. Nature puts on its best face for spring—with winter eyelid surgery, you can too.

Put Your Holiday Money or Tax Refund to Use

Plastic surgery is an investment. During the winter, many patients have access to extra funds because of holiday money, tax refunds, or extra funds in a health savings account. If you get surgery in the winter, you may be able to access this money for a more affordable and accessible procedure.

What Can Eyelid Surgery Do for You?

There are many benefits to wintertime eyelid surgery. Is this procedure right for you?

You may benefit from eyelid surgery if you have sagging on the upper eyelids or bags on the lower eyelids. Eyelid surgery smooths and tightens the upper or lower eyelids. If you have a perpetually angry or tired appearance or if you have loose skin on the upper or lower eyelids, you may benefit from eyelid surgery.

Eyelid sagging isn’t always an eyelid issue. It can be caused by loose skin on the brows or forehead. Dr. Malhotra or Dr. Ballard will help you decide if eyelid surgery is the right procedure for you.
